Vintage Handbag Identifier 1.0.5: 45 Languages, a New Look

Version 1.0.5 of Vintage Handbag Identifier adds 40 languages, a new look and a Not dated reading for outlet F codes. What changed and what stayed the same.

By Updated

Version 1.0.5 of Vintage Handbag Identifier reached the App Store on 26 September 2026. This note lists what changed, taken from the release notes on the App Store listing, and what the 1.0.5 listing said the app covers.

45 languages, up from five

The app can now be used in 45 languages, chosen in More. Arabic, Hebrew and Urdu use right-to-left layouts, and this release corrected how those layouts show year ranges and the plans screen.

Catalogue and collection search also accept Arabic-Indic and Bengali digits, so a style number can be typed in either.

Outlet F codes now read as Not dated

Some Coach style numbers have a letter in front, such as the F on an outlet code. The release notes give F0779-F10909 as the example. Earlier versions could show a wrong date for a code like that. Version 1.0.5 shows Not dated instead, and a not-dated reading does not use your free Creed scan.

The Coach Creed decoder on this website follows the same rule: it does not date a letter before the style digits.

A new look

The app has a new icon and launch screen. The interface uses a new typeface, white screens, charcoal buttons and mulberry accents. First use, scanner guidance, choosing a match, result evidence and saved-bag actions are simpler. This website moved to the same white, charcoal and mulberry palette in September.

What a photo result names, by house

The 1.0.5 listing stated how far a photo result goes for each house:

  • Coach: exact model references from 1981 to 1999.
  • Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Chanel: a family or an era.
  • Fendi and Gucci: a family. A Gucci mark does not establish a year.
  • Other houses are not supported.

The listing for version 1.0.6, released on 4 October 2026, names only Coach and Louis Vuitton. The app’s own “What can we identify?” sheet still lists the other four houses at the same depths, and the app page shows the current list.

The marks inside a bag can be read free on this site, with the Louis Vuitton date code decoder, the Chanel serial number decoder, the Hermès date stamp decoder, the Gucci serial number decoder and the Fendi serial number decoder. If you are not sure which house a bag is from, start with what bag is this?.

Fixes

  • The remaining credit count no longer shows an out-of-date balance after a charged identification.
  • Messenger bag labels are corrected in Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian.

What stayed the same

The release notes say plans, prices, catalogue references and saved records are unchanged.

The app still does not authenticate a bag. A Coach or Louis Vuitton result is a catalogue comparison. A result for Hermès, Chanel, Fendi or Gucci is a suggestion with no catalogue records behind it. No result is an appraisal, and none proves a bag’s age, condition or resale value.
