About this reference

Vintage Bag Index is maintained by Josh Waller, trading as Kovus, in Perth, Western Australia. The reference exists to read the available evidence carefully without turning an unresolved record into a confident answer.

Where the data comes from

The primary root source is Coach catalogue material. Records are extracted from that material as facts, then cross-checked through a separate extraction chain. Because both chains can share the same catalogue root, agreement is a consistency check rather than a second independent source.

Where a catalogue record and another recorded source conflict, or the extraction chains disagree, the record is held for review. It is not averaged away or resolved in favour of the more convenient answer. Source counts describe recorded references, not necessarily distinct roots.

Facts are recorded; catalogue wording, scans and product photography are not republished. Decoder rules describe what this site's tool reads. They do not prove that every coverage boundary is universal history.

Each reference page shows when its evidence was last reviewed. A review date records that check; unsupported precision stays out until catalogue evidence can be cited.

The Coach reference index routes each question to the narrowest method. Start with the in-browser Creed reader, the catalogue style search or the whole-bag identification method according to the evidence you have.

What this is not

It is not authentication. Decoder and catalogue results are consistency checks; they do not establish that a bag is genuine or replace an in-person assessment.

It is not an appraisal. Nothing here estimates what a bag is worth.

It is not affiliated with Coach. Coach is a trademark of its owner and is used here only to describe the bags being identified.
